Project-Based Learning (PBL) is a dynamic classroom approach in which students actively explore real-world problems and challenges to acquire deeper knowledge about the world around them. Our PBL experience at ECES revisits our mission to befriend and support the students at the School of Hope in LaMaarre, Haiti. God has been actively at work at the School of Hope as the number of students has drastically increased over the last year, and building projects have been completed. Last school year, our school was able to donate over $1,500 and send devotionals, salvation bracelets, and school supplies to this young Christian school. The School of Hope has been incredibly blessed, but they still need our help! The children at the school still need a playground, a library, nourishing food, and financial support for academic needs. As a way of continuing our support of the School of Hope, our students have been commissioned with the task of answering the essential question, “How can we build global relationships and equip ourselves for a life of discipleship as we support the School of Hope?” In order to answer this question, the students will participate in an evening of fun and education called “Hop Over to Haiti” on February 21 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Eastern Christian Elementary School. This will be an elementary school community night in which the students will lead presentations in their classrooms about the language, food, art, music, games, and missionaries of Haiti!.
